A European Initiative for Next-Generation Biopolyesters
Be-UP develops novel aliphatic–aromatic biopolyesters produced from bio-based building blocks (such as bio-Butanediol (BDO), innovative catalysts and tailored additives. These materials are designed using advanced modelling tools including kinetic Monte Carlo simulations, polymerisation modelling, compounding modelling and inline rheology.
Industrial validation focuses on blown‑film extrusion, injection moulding and thermoforming. TRL7 prototypes will be produced and assessed in multiple end‑of‑life environments.
Be-UP contributes to:
- Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD)
- Improved standards for testing & labelling
- Circular design guidelines
- EU policies such as the Circular Economy Action Plan and PPWR
